The u11’s got off to a perfect start with victory over a very well respected club for junior cricket in Royton.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first. The opening partnership got us away to a flier Daniel Jones with 18 and Elliott Lawrence with a very accomplished 26 in their 4 overs. We then slowed down in the middle section where all batters worked hard to avoid wickets and the dreaded -6 runs and each put in great effort in holding strong. The last pair Luca Pemberton (22) and Alfie Brazewell (10) again gained the momentum hitting some lovely shots and running extremely well between the wickets. Completing the innings on 274/5.
Taking the field and opening the bowling Both Elliott and Luca bowled quickly and accurately with Luca with figures of 3-2-2-2 and Elliott 2-1-1-0 bowling tightly at the other end. All bowlers bowled well and Max Whitwam saw 3 wickets in his last over finished with 2-0-6-2 along with a very good Alfie Run out. Royton finished on 207/6. A very accomplished victory, and let’s hope this continues for the season.
