Founded in 1866 as Friezland Cricket Club, later changing our name to what is today, Saddleworth Cricket Club has been providing multi-sports facilities to the local community for over 150 years.
Currently, we have multiple senior, junior, ladies and girls cricket teams competing in the Greater Manchester Cricket League. The success of our cricket section means our facilities are used for matches or training for the majority of days during the summer.
Historically, Saddleworth has been successful on the field of play, winning trophies and appearing in cup finals. In recent seasons all 3 of our senior sides have gained promotions and our talented under-11’s won a GMCL cup and performance division title. They also reached the Greater Manchester regional final of the Lancashire cup.
As we continue to develop the club, we look forward to seeing the continued development of our ladies' and girls' teams as they compete in their 4th season of league cricket in 2026. The strength of this section has grown greatly since starting in 2023 and we hope for it to become even stronger in the future.
We strongly believe that the key to a successful club is by investing in young people and we take immense pride in developing our junior cricketers. The section has continued to progress with Saddleworth juniors regularly gaining representative honours.
