Micklehurst come to the rescue as pitch replacement

Well what a difference a few days make. Impeccable behaviour, attitude and great team spirit last night, well done to each and every player.

Excellent captaincy from Matty Reddish, who took it on himself to raise the teams maturity and to play the game in the right spirit. A talk before the game and a huddle when taking the field, ensuring each batting pair of Friarmere were applauded off the pitch was great to see. Thank you Matty. Long may it continue.

A massive shout out to Pete Buckley groundsman at Micklehurst who prepared a track at the 11th hour so we could play our game last night as Friarmere's pitch was sodden.

A huge thank you also to Gary Kershaw and his u11's Friarmere side too, who drafted in a few of their U9's to ensure a game was played.
Although the rain threatened and for periods light rain fell we were able to complete a full game.

Sadd /Mick won the toss and elected to bat, and right from the start made inroads into correcting the wrongs from a week before. A great performance from opening pair Luca and Matty who put on 31. We slowed down somewhat after that, but everyone made a contribution and were able to lose a lot fewer wickets from last weeks game against Glodwick. We were able to pick the pace at the end with Daniel and Elliot putting on 20 for the last pair finishing on 297-6 (273 net score).

Friarmere with a depleted side as some players were on a trip to Edgbaston to watch the ICC champions trophy match, had to include a couple of u9's players to make up the numbers. They struggled to make lots of runs in the opening overs juggling experience with debutants. It wasn't until late on in the innings when Adam, Connor, Ben and Harry came into bat as the last 2 pairs, that they started to gain important runs and with 48 in wides we helped them close in on our total. We stood firm though and restricted Friarmere to 289-8 (257 net score).

It's our last match next week against Uppermill / Moorside, so lets go into the divisional section of the season strong and confident.
