It is with extreme sadness that the Club have to the announce the peaceful passing of Dennis Ward on the 28th October 2020 aged 87 after a short illness.
Dennis has been a stalwart of the club since joining in 1963 having a wide variety of roles from cess pit emptier (usually to Vera’s annoyance in his best suit), through to Club Chairman.
Though primarily a Cricketer he encouraged all to use the Club and facilities and was solely responsible for resurrecting the Bowling Section in the 1960’s. He was well respected within the Club as a True Gentleman, both on and off the field, and always had time to have a chat or a well-intended piece of advice for anyone.
The family only funeral is on Thursday 12th November at Hollinwood Crematoria, donations in lieu of flowers are to the Club, to provide a fitting memorial.
The Family hoped to have a memorial event for Dennis once the current climate returns to as normal as possible.
He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, former work colleagues and all at the Club.
